Severalpossibilities: While the right lower quadrant is home to the appendix, is is also where the colon resides. Referred pain is the name of pain that starts in one organ (think liver, gallbladder) but goes to another part of the body. It is possible your pain is from the gallbladder or the colon, but a good primary care provider can help figure this out. In the meantime, you could try prilosec or a PI to see if GERD

Right abdominal: Discomfort in that area, at times related to eating, could be intestinal gas, adhesions from any prior abdominal surgery, abdominal hernia, ongoing inflammation around the ileus or appendix. Since your symptoms are recurring, I recommend that you be evaluated by an abdominal surgeon. Referral may be made to a gastroenterologist after the surgeon assesses your situation.
