Underweight: a patient who is underweight such as the person described does have some increased risk during pregnancy. Often underweight patients are recommended to gain slightly more weight than an average sized woman in order to prevent growth restriction of the baby and to allow the baby to get adequate nutrition. There is also mild increased risk of preterm labor
