Teething. : You’d need either an Oragel type agent that’s applied to the gums or a teething ring. Would try to avoid oral analgesics if possible.

Teething: If under two years old do NOT use local anesthetic gels, see: https://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm306062.htm Use any ring or other shape commonly available in the baby section of stores that can be chewed safely and kept in the freezer to chill before use.

Mgt: There are many causes of irritability. Please check the baby's temperature. A dose of Motrin infant drops and/or topical teething medication may alleviate the pain. Please follow up with your PCP.

Teething: First, all children should have 1st dental appt about time of 1st b'day. Advise seeing Pediatric Dental Specialist, Pedodontist, for all the same reasons you see a Pediatric Medical Specialist, Pediatrician. For teething try chilled teething ring, and after age 2 liquid Motrin and/or Orajel topical as per package directions.

Look: In the baby’s mouth. If her gums are red and inflamed then see your pediatrician. If the gums look normal then try gently rubbing them - often the baby’s gums itch rather than hurt and rubbing can help. If that doesn’t work, apply numbing liquid such as anbesol being sure to follow the directions carefully. The teeth will soon erupt and solve the problem. Be sure to keep her mouth clean.
