A member asked:

I'm currently taking spironolactone (aldactone) 25mg twice a day to lower my blood pressure but only my systolic is decreasing. is this typical?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BP meds. : This might not be an unusual occurrence, especially if your diastolic blood pressure number is close to normal to begin with. If however your diastolic blood pressure number is too high and is not coming down, you might need another medication in addition to spironolactone to give you adequate lowering of the systolic and diastolic numbers.
