My right knee has been paining for a few years, from the medial to lateral side and spreads all around cap. pain will occur when i wake up from a night's rest. what could this be? i've tried straps, warm and cold pads, massages and nothing helps.

Orthopedic surgeon: I would be concerned about internal knee joint derangement like torn cartilage or an inflammatory process. It's time for you to see an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation, advice and treatment. Appropriate tests like an MRI may be ordered.
