Hard to say: An exam would help but based on your age, my first guess would be chondromalacia patellae. You can look that up and if it might be the case then physical therapy for same is helpful for a lot of inflammatory conditions of the knee. If there is redness, swelling, or warmth in the joint a doctor's visit is clearly worthwhile.
