Abnormal CBC: How long after surgery? Usually after weight loss surgery one should be taking iron supplements, Vitamin B12 and Folic acid, along with a multi-vitamin. I would follow up with the surgeon or your primary care physician. Unless you are having symptoms such as blood in your stool, light-headiness, chest pain, short of breath or others, I do not think you need to go to the Emergency Department.

Anemia after WLS.: I'm not certain of the time frame to which we are referring. It is not unusual to develop anemia after weight loss surgery because of difficulties in vitamin consumption. Are you supplementing vitamins as advised? If this has developed quickly after surgery, or despite supplementation of vitamins recommended, then you should follow up with your surgeon.
