Some thoughts...: UTI means urinary tract infection. An infection in the bladder, urethra, ureter, or kidney is a UTI because those parts of her body are parts of her urinary tract. Infections that doctors and patients commonly call UTI's are usually caused by bacteria and thus need antibiotic treatment. Symptoms are painful urination, frequent urination, fever, urgency (cannot hold urine), bladder discomfort, etc.

Yes: You can have urinary tract infection without pain. Common symptoms of UTI are burning on urination, frequency of urination, fowl smelling urine. May have bladder or lower abdominal pain or fever depending on the location and extent of infection
