Very Unlikely: A few bubbles in your iv are harmless. If you are having chest pain or shortness of breath or stroke like symptoms then go to the emergency room.

Yes. May stay lodged: Air emboli can form in the vein when the IV is inserted. Over time, the oxygen from the air can be absorbed, reducing the size of the bubble. However N2 nitrogen, an inert gas, remains. When the bubble shrinks to a sufficient size, it can dislodge & embolize. Thus, the thrombus (actually air bubble) can form many hours before the movement of the bubble to a dangerous region of the body (embolism).
