Backpacks: Physical therapists recommend that the back pack weigh not more than 10% of the body weight. In practice, most kids from the second grade on up are carrying more weight than this based on the books they need for school. Some things you can try: Separate out some books into a tote bag to carry separately. Try a wheeled schoolbag (social death to most kids!) Good luck.
