Return for check up: It is possible you need a root canal. You may have a cracked tooth or the nerve is dying. In either case a root canal may resolve your problem.

You need to be seen: There are a couple of possible reasons for this discomfort. It could be that the nerve within the tooth has become inflamed or the gum tissue and bone surrounding the tooth is inflamed or infected. It is important to be evaluated by a knowledgeable dentist or dental specialist (oral surgeon, periodontist or endodontist).
