Testing needed: Presumably your original and next oubreak were both genital, right? Was genital herpes professionally confirmed? If so, it can be either HSV1 or 2. Your low outbreak frequency favors HSV1, but only testing can tell for sure. A blood test can tell if you have HSV 1 and/or 2. Or if another outbreak, a swab test (within 1-2 days of onset) can confirm diagnosis and determine virus type.

Explanation : Treatment for both HSV one and Two actually the same. Why suddenly you need to know if you had outbreak 2 years ago. The type 1 usually on face, type 2 on genitals. Be well.
