A member asked:

What are the transmission rates for hsv orally without outbreak/symptoms? i was diagnosed with hsv2 genitally and never knew if i had it orally (no symptoms orally), so im trying to see if i have hsv2 both oral and genital?

If you never had a cold soar, it would suggest you never had HSV1 or 2 orally. If you have HSV2 genital outbreaks, this infection triggers a type specific immune response that would reduce your chance of ever getting HSV2 as an oral process. There are the two HSV types, and either can infect both locations.

Oral HSV2 is uncommon in people with genital HSV2, and virtually all herpes experts say they have never seen a patient who acquired oral or genital HSV2 from oral sex -- only HSV1. Really nothing to be worried about.
