Mucus colitis: This mucus colitis may be due to a viral intestinal tract infection or a reaction/intolerance to something you ate. Since you don't have a history of recurrent episodes like this, I don't believe it's an irritable bowel syndrome flare up. Treatment is rest, intake of adequate fluids, avoidance of harsh roughage and taking kaopectate if needed to control troublesome diarrhea. See your MD as needed.
