A member asked:

I am 27 week pregnant and at my 21-week scan, the scan saw that there is a rather vascular segment of myometrium at the cervix and was requested to do another scan at 32 weeks. i would like to ask about what the implications are? anything to worry?

Needs monitoring : Possibly developing an arteriovenous malformation in the uterus. This needs careful watching as may alter the strategy for delivery (implications re bleeding risks). Hence the recommended follow up scans. Would advise to discuss the specifics of followup strategy with an obstetrician so there is a plan in place

Pregnancy: This could be a malformation . If it's encroaching into cervix then your treating obstetrician might suggest going for a caesarian section . Please discuss with your obstetrician for detailed discussion.
