Maybe: Malignant lymphoma cells only enter the blood late -- if they were there early, it would be a leukemia. Anemia, especially if coombs-positive, raises suspicion for lymphoma. The classic triad of fever, weight loss, and night sweats of course suggests lymphoma, but the key is the discovery of a mass in a lymphoid area. Hodgkin's is common in youngsters; non-Hodgkin's in older folks.
