Toprol/metoprolol is: only a tool, called a beta blocker, which partially inhibits adrenaline & noradrenaline output from brain/autonomic nervous system from stimulating beta receptors on heart muscle cells (& elsewhere) possibly ↓ing heart rate, strength of contraction, etc, thereby ? ↓ing blood pressure. Peak effect, orally, at ~1 hour & fades. Can mind/brain easily overpower it? Absolutely & by multiple pathways.
