I was seen at er for severe kidney infection 4 days ago. sent home on cipro and am not feeling better. how long should i give the antibiotics ?

Call them: It would be very valuable to know if the Cipro is proved as effective against whatever bacteria is causing the kidney infection. The results of the urinary culture should be back by now. Sometimes Cipro doesn't work because the germs are getting smarter. If you have fevers, vomiting, feel dizzy or otherwise 'not well' - I would go back to that ER so you can get re-evaluated. 4 days is too long...

Should be better: This should have improved by now. Get in touch with your personal physician today (it's a holiday, but someone probably is on call). If pain is severe and/or you have fever, don't delay -- if necessary return to an urgent care clinic or the ER where you were treated.
