See answer: IF the diagnosis of kidney infection (aka pyelonephritis) is accurate (best established on basis of symptoms, urinalysis, and urine culture), it may take 48-72 hours of antibiotic treatment before you start feeling better. Another possibility is that the bacteria causing the UTI may be resistant to Cipro (ciprofloxacin) which is increasingly common, especially if you have taken this medication in the past. See MD
