Diastolic dysfnc: "Diastolic dysfunction" means that the heart muscle relaxation phase is slow or stiff. This diagnosis is often made by echo (ultrasound), but the accuracy of the diagnosis is very dependent on the quality of the echo study and its interpretation. A cardiologist would want to know why you had an echo in the first place, and to consider the findings in context of the rest of your history.
