Lateral ventricles: The lateral ventricles are one area of the fetal brain that contain cerebral spinal fluid. The sonogram measurement is considered abnormal when it is > 10 mm. You listed 8 mm which is in the normal range. Discuss your specific results with your doctor and ask if any abnormal findings were noted. If the doctor feels that an abnormality was seen they may want to refer to to a specialist.
