Is it normal to get a outer ear infection i havent been swimming/no trauma to the ear.was exposed to a baby w fever+congestion+diarrhea this past week?

See doctor: It isn't "normal" to have any infection. It seems possible you caught something from the baby. You should contact your doctor's office about it; an "external" ear infection might require antibiotic ear drops or even an antibiotic by mouth.

Unusual. : It would be unusual to get a swimmer's ear or outer ear infection without having your head underwater at some point. Go see your dr for evaluation and checking for a middle ear infection particularly.
