I had a cbc test before one week. my hb is 17 and hct level is 51%. i want to lower this level. how can i do this?

Donate blood and: stop smoking. If your hemoglobin is recurrently elevated, you may want to undergo some simple testing to address causes of primary or secondary polycythemias.

Cause?: The level of hemoglobin (and usually amount of red blood cells) is controlled by some pretty complex signalling and synthesis. On a short term basis, dehydration increases Hb, so stay hydrated. But you should be checked for conditions such as polycythemia vera or leukemia.
