I have a result in xray i had a ptb of indeterminate activity but i had a sputum negative .. why is negative if i had ptb on xray result?

Possible: Some patients may have latent infection (Ghon's complex) or old disease without activity and can have positive chest x-ray manifestations. In active TB, sputum may be negative in 20-50% of cases and requires further investigations to confirm the diagnosis.
