A recent chest x-ray revealed "a tortuous ascending and descending aorta, i am scheduled for surgery on my thyroid- there is a 3.7cm nodule on the lef?

Tortuous aorta: means that the aorta takes a more twisting course than its normal straight direction. This is usually due to aging or atherosclerosis. There is usually little clinical significance to this xray finding.
