See an orthopedist: It is hard to know without examining you, and without knowing where you are numb, what is causing your problem. It sounds like you first had an internal injury to your knee, and did the right thing by giving it a chance to heal. You can injure the peroneal nerve near the knee. This could result in weakness of your foot, and is something to take seriously - see an orthopedic surgeon.
