Ear exam: It is important to have your ear drum examined as it could be irritated by wax build up or there may be inflammation of the ear drum. The eustachian tube connects the back of the nose to the ear and this tube may be blocked by nasal congestion which can also cause ear pain from excess pressure in the middle ear.

Eustachian tube : Sounds like Eustachian tube dysfunction. You can try nasal decongestant like flixonase and if not improving see your doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
