Impingement: This suggests an impingement of nerves of the hand and a carpal tunnel syndrome is likely. The impingenent would be at the wrist caused by a thickened ligament. It may be caused by occupational or housework repetitive activities. A hand surgeon is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you with a either/or a brace, cortisone injection or surgery if the diagnosis is carpal tunnel syndrome.

Many possibilities: There are many possibilities for this type of pain. Your symptoms are typical of "nerve" pain. You could have a condition such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (or other impingement), diabetes, autoimmune disease, toxic (heavy metals), hereditary, environmental (operating a jack-hammer), Vitamin deficiencies, ... just to name a few possible causes. See your primary care doctor for a proper evaluation.
