No: The studies that have been published are related to long term use. If you've taking it for years, there are association studies not causation. You should continue taking PPI as clinically indicated and then discuss with your gastroenterologist or PCP when its safe to come off.

PPI side effects: PPI's, in short term can cause some dose-dependent side effects including headache & diarrhea. Longer term use carries other consequences (please see my prior answers on this topic in HealthTap)--like bone thinning, low magnesium. Don't confuse lay-press interpretation of retrospective analysis of dissimilar populations with randomized prospective trials & never stop prescribed drugs on your own!
