A member asked:

I've borderline high blood pressure.i was told rinsing my mouth with salt water can raise my blood pressure.is it true?i've used salt water each day.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: Unless you are ingesting significant amounts of salt, the rinsing and spitting out shouldn't affect your blood pressure. However I am if the opinion that avoiding added salt in your food as well as avoiding eating salty foods helps to lower blood pressure.
