Can the condition of your teeth affect your health. i.e. raised blood pressure?

Absolutely!: Oral disease is a chronic condition that increases the inflammatory process in the whole body of which blood pressure is one of the measurable indicators. There are more and more good studies that are confirming the oral-body connection in overall health.

BP? but....: Untreated dental decay and periodontal disease can result in infections which can spread to the rest of your body and cause serious complications. Studies suggest gingivitis may increase the risk of heart disease and stroke because of the high levels of bacteria found in infected areas of the mouth. Also a risk for patients with compromised immune systems, prosthetic devices, diabetes, etc.
