There are at least 3 opinions as to what constitutes hypertension: 135/85, 140/90, 150/90 (over 60 yrs old). what is appropriate for a 68 yr old male?

Some of these: variations have to do with coexisting health conditions a person may have. The most accepted value for an average person, including a 68 year old male, is 140/90 mm Hg. Above this a person is labeled as having hypertension. However, IDEAL blood pressure is less than 120/80. So there is quite a range of suboptimal blood pressure elevation that is best treated by lifestyle and healthy behavior:)

Anything above systolic greater than 120 needs to be lowered.
