Not unusual but: when going through therapy to regain motion, one may develop warmth. But sometimes it indicates enough inflammation to impede regaining motion. If there is reddness or increased swelling it is imperative to have the surgeon take a look

To some degree: Some degree of inflammation and subsequent increased warmth is normal after a patellar tendon repair, but if it starts feeling red, hot, or associated with a lot of swelling or discharge it could be s sign of infection and you would need to make sure your surgeon is aware.
