A member asked:

Hi doctors. my sister recently broke her wrist (smashed by a horse while getting into a horse trailer). an orthopedic surgeon reset the break, but upon further evaluation, the alignment is off by 1.6 mm (i.e., 1.6 mm displacement). surgery advised?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: This depends on the location of the displacement. If it involves a significant portion of the joint, then it may need surgery. That being said, 1.6mm is pretty small and may not need correction.
