Until scab heals.: "A moist wound is a healing wound", as the axiom goes. There should be no harm in applying a warm (not hot!) wet compress to a scab for the entire time that the scab is present. In other words, you can do it until the scab falls off. Normally, a skin tear or abrasion will heal in less than 1 week. If you have medical problems like diabetes, healing can be delayed.
