Not necessarily: Antibiotics are rather specific in the kinds of bacteria they kill. Macrobid is very specific for utis whereas amoxi and Cipro (ciprofloxacin) may not vover the bacteria your physician suspects.Dont start any antibioticsiwthout your md's knowledge.

Listen to the RN: Are you pregnant? Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not safe in pregnancy. Always safest to follow your dr, nurse, or midwives' advice. Some antibiotics don't cover the same "bugs" and might not work as well, leading to more complications.

Amox/pcn are best: Macrobid is usually effective, but penicillin and Amoxicillin are the first choice antibiotics for group b strep. The fatality rate for adults with intact immune systems is extremely rare, newborns are susceptible to rare, but fatal infections with gbs.
