Herniated Disc : Pain is not the only indication, but one of many used in deciding if surgery is indicated. Neurological deficits & alternations in activities of daily living are some factors considered in the decision making process. Microdiscectomy and disc replacement technology are here & the spine surgeon will tell you more. It is hoped no further injections are needed after surgery, but sometimes needed.
