Separate Injury: Amanda, Sciatica tends to be a very broad and poorly used terminology by many practitioners without giving you a clear cause of your pain. While the back can be a source of hip pain, it more often then not isn't especially if the pain isn't going below your knee. I would have your hip evaluated by a ortho/sports specialist or physiatrist. Hope that helps.
