How common are small 5mm nodules in the esophagus? had an endoscopy and found one. doctor isn't really concerned. thoughts on this? she did study it.

Nodule: Nodules in the esophagus are not very common but certainly can be benign. Nevertheless they demand careful evaluation and follow-up by a gastroenterologist to assure that they are benign and don't mutate into premalignant or actual malignant lesions. Occasionally patients with nodules are placed on ppi medications like prilosec or nexium.

Do doctors have to write on an endoscopy report if they suspect Barretts esophagus or can they just leave it out and wait for the biopsy report? In order to not worry the patient? Or do they legally have to write what they see?
