Still a question: No exact number yet Gastric Intestinal metaplasia is being investigated and it is likely that a combination of genetic aspects of both Helicobacter pylori and the patient and also environmental factors will be shown to cause this precancerous condition. I believe the most likely consensus is that it increases the risk of stomach cancer by 6 times higher then patients who do not have the metaplasia
