Sure.: It is a stromal/mesenchymal cancer that most often located in the stomach and small bowel, but can occur in any portion of the alimentary tract including occasionally in the omentum, mesentery, and peritoneum. Surgical resection to cure it in early stage- followed by Gleevec (imatinib) if indicated. In metastatic disease- treatment would be gleevec, (imatinib) removal of metastasis if possible etc. D/w oncologist.
