Arthritis? Infected?: If there has been no obvious injury and no break in the skin, maybe arthritis involving foot joints. Or stress fracture. Possibly an infection in the area, such as osteomyelitis (bone infection). Infection or arthritis could be dangerous if not properly diagnosed and treated. See your doctor soon. If you also have fever, spreading redness, or a red streak up the leg, get care immediately.
