Probably not: It is very common for someone your age to have a degenerative meniscus tear. There's a good chance you have arthritis as well. An occasional cortisone injection (max. 3/year) can relieve pain and inflammation. There are other injection options. I would only recommend a knee scope (arthroscopy) if you have persistent and significant swelling or if the meniscus tear is "locking" the joint.
