Timeframe of Injury?: The oral gel should not have any effect on the exposed root surface. Whether or not your gum will grow back may be dependent upon how large of an area was detached as well as how long ago the injury occurred. If the exposed root surface has a cleft (U-shaped appearance), the gum tissue will likely not reattach unless a periodontal procedure is performed to cover the exposed root surface.

Will not grow back: Your gum will not grow back on its own. Please see a Periodontist (gum specialist) for a procedure to repair it. Failure to do so may result in a lifetime of problems.
