A member asked:

I got bit by a raccoon, got the first few shots to prevent rabies, can i make out with my girlfriend?

YES, as long as: she wants to make out with you. The rabies virus doesn't show up in saliva until near the time when the person or animal becomes ill. Taking ALL the shots necessary to prevent rabies will protect both of you. Dr. Anne

Rabies risk: Per Global Alliance for Rabies Control - "The rabies vaccine cannot cause rabies infection, so exposure to a person or an animal undergoing post-exposure prophylaxis does not constitute an exposure."
