Rabies vaccine: is used as part of post-exposure prophylaxis (prevention after a bite) and should be given ASAP after exposure/a bite. You are correct...it is nearly 100% effective when given then. If delayed, there may be slightly reduced effectiveness for prevention of disease from that bite, but going forward, if not infected, then you would be equally well protected. Stay well!
