Is it customary to be seen by cardiologist every 2 yrs for echo test for life after mitral valve repair or would discharge happen at some point?

Depends on pattern.: IF the echocardiogram shows no progression or reversion (meaning, if the images essentially show no changes) over the next 4-6 years, most likely you'll be discharged from the clinic. They may space out your appointments to every 5, then every 10 yrs. A mitral valve replacement is a complex major surgery; docs want to make sure you're not backsliding & that medications works, that it's not 4 nothi

It is entirely: reasonable to be seen on a yearly or every other year basis after valvular repair. Echocardiographic evaluation can add additional benefit to these evaluations and is also reasonable. Discharge is unlikely and probably unwise unless you have an exceptionally experienced primary physician.
