My son is ten and weighs 130 lbs. he was prescribed amoxicillin 400 mg/5 ml suspension. 2 1/2 teaspoons once daily. is this the correct dosage?

He should be getting between 800 and 1600 mg per dose twice a day. Perhaps the physician meant to write for 1,000 mg twice a day and the RX was mistyped.
