Pain: I would see and ortho and get evaluation. It may be a "walking boot" is in order, but could be some type arthitis or bone spur. Sounds like it would be worth checking into

Be seen: It would probably be a good idea to be seen first, in part to make sure you have not sustained a more severe injury than an ankle sprain such as, for example, a fracture. Mild ankle fractures may not need any immobilization although sometimes an ace wrap can reduce swelling. Severe grade III ankle sprains can be treated for the short term with rigid immobilization such as cast or boot.
