High ankle sprains involves the anterior tibia-fibula ligament. This type of sprain requires very aggressive treatment immobilizing for a minimum of 4 weeks. I would immobilize on crutches for 4-5 weeks and re-evaluate at that time When you bear weight the talus helps to separate the bones . If this fails surgical consideration will be needed.
